About this build

This is the “monitor or TV?” argument settled by buying both in one panel: a 48-inch LG OLED with DisplayPort, G-SYNC and a 138Hz overclock, run from a desk instead of a sofa. Everything around it is staging: Nanoleaf Triangles and Lines across sculpted 3D wave tiles turn the wall into part of the display.

The inputs stay serious despite the ambience: an Aim Lab-tuned 54g ROG mouse and a transparent Lofree board that glows to match the wall. The frost white Titan Evo and a cheap IKEA desk finish it: spend where you look, save where you sit it on.

Why this setup works

Immersion here is treated as a lighting problem, not just a screen-size problem. The 48-inch OLED gives perfect blacks, so the room needs controlled ambient light to stop the panel floating in darkness: the Nanoleaf Triangles and Lines wash the 3D wave tiles behind the display, extending game colours past the bezels, while the ScreenBar keeps the desk usable without reflecting off the glossy panel. The peripherals are deliberately low-profile so nothing competes with the wall, yet the Harpe Ace keeps real aim performance on tap. The IKEA desk is the correct place to save: at this viewing distance you look at the wall and the panel, never the worktop.
